1927 Earthquake of China


May 23rd, 1927 a devastating earthquake which measured 8 magnitudes hit Gu lang city, Gan su province, China, it also affected Qing hai province and Shan xi province.

Gu lang city was completely damaged, according to the history record, the earthquake claimed 41,471 people. It was one of the most devastating earthquake ever happened to the west part of China and even China.

As China was in civil war in that time, the government failed to launch any investigation to the cause and effects of the earthquake. Only some information was reported in the newspaper, and some foreigners who stayed there write their feelings about it.

In 1958, after the founding of new China, the Chinese government made a few investigations about the 1927 earthquake of China. But due to the long time, not enough information was gathered.

In 1990 and 1996, two earthquakes hit Gu lang again, which brought numerous misery to the local people and the Chinese.

1927 Earthquake of China will live in the hearts of the Chinese forever.
